This graphic illustrates the timeline for the development of your Professional Portfolio. Note that we will be working with four-week overlapping cycles. These cycles include:

  1. Collecting Artifacts (journal entries, student work, photos, etc.)
  2. Posting Initial Draft
  3. Reviewing/Assessing your colleague's entries.
  4. Considering feedback, revising, and posting your final version.

This overlapping allows you to begin slowly while you get used to the tools.  Peak activity will be weeks 5 & 6.  On the downhill side, you can begin to think about your executive summary.

If you have any questions about the timelines and activities, please post them below.

Gary, I am ready for you to post the next reflection topic (Leadership skills). I don't mean to push, but I leave for a week with 50 students June 16th and I need to really be finished with everything by then. Will this work for you?? Tammy

I don't know what I was thinking... it will not take a whole week to post your writings.  I had originally envisioned each component as a three-week cycle.  That's more likely what it will be. I'm ready to post instructions for collecting artifacts and drafting your first entry.  Let's go ahead and see how this first cycle works out.  If we can do each one in three weeks, I'll adjust the timeline accordingly.

If we return to the original idea of a three-week cycle, it'll give us an extra week at the end of the course to get deeper into the final review and improve the overall quality of your Portfolios.

Leadership Seminar Participants: I uploaded a copy of the ERL 605 timeline document on the Timelines & Instructions page.  The link at the bottom of this email will take you directly to the Timelines & Instructions page.

Note: i want to thank Geri for suggesting that I send a copy of the timelines, and remind all of you that I welcome suggestions for making this group spaces as useful as possible.  I can't promise that we can meet all requests; however, the software is very flexible... so we'll give it a try.
